Titans u16 Hit High at Carnival Sevens Series

On the 9th August 2017, the Titans Rugby u16s 7s Teams took to Meyerton for the first of three legs in the upcoming Carnival Sevens Series being hosted by the Valke Junior Clubs. The u16s, split in two separate teams, started the days with a bang and maintained their momentum throughout with some sharp rugby skills, and a tenacity in defense that would not be matched throughout the day, these two teams blew away opposition after opposition setting up a very interesting final.

Playing a brand of rugby that would not be matched, the two Titans teams overcame all their oppponents. Titans Team 1 had victories over ERU, Spartans B, Bobbies (Valke), Springs and Brakpan B with scores of 25-0, 25-5, 25-0, 15-10 and 25-0 respectively.

 

Titans Team 2 had victories and a draw over Spartans C, Brakpan A, Elsburg, Vereeniging and Spartans A with scores of 20-0, 20-5, 25-0, 10-10 and 25-0 respectively.

 

It setup a very unique final
with parents screaming louder than any other games before.

In the final, the Titans 7s team took to the field to play each other, as a coach there was only ever going to be one winner, Titans Rugby, but the boys agreed among themselves to go out there and put on a display of fine skills and hard rugby for the supporters. It was a hard and intense final, played with vigour and hard hits. With some great skills and some slick moves, it would be the Titans Team 2 that would take this day with a final score of 28-7 over Team 1. Hence the Titans Rugby u16 7s teams would finish the day 1st and 2nd in the standings for the Carnival Sevens Series Leg 01 – a truly great way to end it as the sun set.

It was treuly a great display of rugby that day and i would like to thank the Titans for the great coaching skills and the aim not only to create better players but the mind set to ensure the boys are not only stronger but on how to be humble yet tough enough to take on any challange life might through at them.
