Titans Rugby started the 2016 year with a fantastic pre-season clinic aimed at u12s and u13s. The key objectives were to assess the players and ensure their best possible chance of making their respective school u13 1st XV for the 2016 season ahead. The clinic was held at Bobbies Rugby Club (Mark’s Park) and was run in January over a Saturday and Sunday and then for four more consecutive Friday nights.
A number of basic skills were taught over the clinic, with key concepts aimed specifically at requirements needed to participate at u13 1st XV level. The players were measured in various strength and conditioning tests and various programs were given to the players to assist in the development and improvement of both skills and conditioning.
The players were then exposed to a live training match in which they faced the Pirates u13 team that will go on to represent at the KEPS Rugby Easter Festival this year. The match itself proved to be instrumental in creating an environment where players could measure themselves up against an opposition that were in the same category as themselves and at the same time, receive valuable coaching from coaches at this level.
Great to see kids out in numbers having this
much fun, while still learning.

Titans coaches were happy with the outcome and discussed various ideas and concepts with parents on how to assist in developing and improving their son’s skills and conditioning. While at the same time discussing the ideas for future clinics and ideas around core player development.
Titans will most definitely be holding more of these going forward, please be sure to check out our events page to see all upcoming clinics and other related events.
